Training on Flower Arrangement (WFWP Nigeria)

Our vision towards this was captivating because we like flowers and the youth today has lost so much interest in this culture, so we make it valuable to enlighten them on this practice. Floristry can involve the cultivation of flowers as well as their arrangement, and the business of selling them. Much of the raw material supplied for the floristry trade comes from the cut flowers industry.

Floral design or floral arts is the art of creating flower arrangements in vases, bowls, baskets, or other containers, or making bouquets and compositions from cut flowers, foliage, herbs, ornamental grasses, and other plant materials. Here we see flowers beyond just arrangement. Some flowers are used as natural insecticides. For example, the pyrethrum daisy is commonly used as a green pest control measure. Flowers are thermogenic and can generate heat to attract pollinators. Flowers are interesting not just for their beauty but also for their medicinal properties.

For example, the Aloe vera plant is commonly used to treat burns and wounds. Flowers are fascinating and complex creatures, and there's much to learn about them. From the world's smallest flower to the most expensive one, these fascinating plants never cease to amaze. The participants were given certificates at the end.

The Significance:

To deepen participants’ knowledge on flower arrangement as it has been a popular art for centuries, and many people consider the ability to create a perfectly balanced arrangement a great skill. While styles vary across the globe, many cultures seem to enjoy using floral symbolism. In floral design, the goal is typically to have all elements appear to be arranged around a single axis, having various parts of the arrangement look as if they are meeting at different points makes the final product look disjointed.
