Young professionals around the world are playing an active role in creating and promoting peace by making their voices heard for positive change, coexistence, and harmony. Young people are the builders of the future of their countries and the world. In this webinar, WFWPI would like to focus on the role of youth in the family and society in enhancing and contributing to the culture of the community and society. Panelists will share best practice success stories and decision-making processes that have effectively tackled huge crises in various areas of life's responsibility.

Speaker 1

Shiuan-ru Wang, Climat Activist (Taiwan)

Originally from Hsinchu, Taiwan, Ms. Shiuan-ru Wang initiated a proposal in 2017 called "Phasing out the use of disposable tableware”, which caught the attention of the government at the age of 17.

Now, she is a junior in the department of Interior Design. As a runway model and a coordinator for the government, she wants to use her diverse skills and experiences to inspire the world to strike a balance between nature and humanity.


Speaker 2

Hema Doraisamy, Director of My Global World (Malaysia)

Ms. Hema Doraisamy is the Director of My Global World. She is into the education business affiliated with institutions from Switzerland, Denmark, and the US. She does international and local student recruitment and marketing for the institutions respectively, and she also lectures on Business & Management subjects. Her specialization is providing quality academic qualifications for the busy mature working class personnel as well as young adults who are striving to achieve their career dream.

Ms. Doraisamy graduated with a bachelor's and master’s degrees in business from Asia e University and later joined the International Business Academy of Switzerland to pursue her Doctorate which also laid the foundation for her venture into the education business.

Apart from work, she is passionate about empowering the community by spreading positivity and doing social work. She is an active charter member of the Rotary Club of Lake Gardens Kuala Lumpur and also a member of the Malaysia Positive Psychology Association.


Speaker 3

Joseph Ayoub, Architect (Lebanon)

Mr. Joseph Ayoub is a Lebanese Armenian Architect born and raised in Dubai, U.A.E. He received his Bachelor of Architecture with Distinction from the Lebanese American University (LAU) in 2018. Through local and international NGOs, he served and still serves in positions focusing on issues related to civic engagement, refugee camps aid, historic preservation, antiracism movement, environmental protection, and awareness projects. He supports empowerment projects that help build peace bridges in communities.

Mr. Ayoub has lived for 2 years in Armenia for professional and volunteering involvement. He then moved back to Lebanon for 3 months where he took part in several community projects in Beirut that were aimed to help recovery after the Beirut Port blast in August 2020. He currently lives in Dubai, United Arab Emirates due to his work. However, he continues to be engaged in any developmental project, big or small as a service back to his community back home.

Patricia Matos, Journalist (Portugal)

Ms. Patricia Matos is a Head of Innovation at Global Media Group, holder of 18 media titles such as Diário de Notícias, Jornal de Notícias, Rádio ‘TSF’, and others. She is also the Head of Communication to the European Parliament, Local Assistant assigned to the MEP Francisco Guerreiro, non-registered deputy, and member of the European Greens Group. Ms. Matos also works as the invited professor of post-graduation globalization, diplomacy and security at Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Instituto Military University.

Ms. Matos continues to self-develop and currently is a Ph.D. student in Social Sciences, specializing in Political Science, at the Higher Institute of Social and Political Sciences, in Lisbon.


Speaker 5

Tamara Starr, Multimedia Journalist, and UX/UI Designer (USA)

Mrs. Tamara Starr has been working as a journalist and an advocate for over 20 years. She has always been passionate about training women to become leaders within their community and voter registration. She has worked for organizations such as NBC Universal, The Boston Globe, Pro Sound Music Magazine, NYS Music, NYPIRG, and WFWPI. Recently, she launched the lifestyle news website Emperial Samaritan with her former employer Patch.com. The focus is on sharing stories about those who are choosing to give back while encouraging others to do the same. She is also a Team Leader for Headcount, a non-partisan organization that uses music to register voters and promote participation in democracy.

Mrs. Starr received her B.A. in Political Science from Binghamton University, M.A. in Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College, and UX/UI Design certification from the Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science. She currently resides in New York, where she loves attending concerts and festivals while also spending time with her husband and three children.

Millie Cox, WFWPI Intern (UK)

Alongside these various roles, Ms. Cox had the fantastic opportunity to undertake internships with a female-empowered NGO (Women Going Beyond) and WFWP. For WGB, she provided content for online sessions for young girls and women in South East Asia, whilst at WFWP most of her time was spent writing a research paper on the impact of art contests amongst children hosted by NGOs.


Moderators

Kefilwe Lebepe, Team Leader of WFWPI Young Professionals Team

Ms. Kefilwe Lebepe is an active member of WFWP Germany, WFWPI Young Professionals team, and the WFWPI Global Committee for the Environment. Her current work is in environmental protection in South Africa, and she is currently promoting it in other countries such as Zambia, Eswatini, and Lesotho. She is passionate about helping to find solutions to problems affecting young people and the disadvantaged and is working to achieve UN SDG 2030 with the support of WFWP.

On the work front, Ms. Lebepe has over 10 years of experience in banking and foreign exchange. She has also worked with various youth organizations to support character-building education and the moral regeneration of young people.


Jacqueline Sou Aber, Member of WFWPI Global Committee in Education and Humanitarian Activities

Mrs. Jacqueline Sou Aber is a member of the WFWPI Global Committee on Education and Humanitarian Activities from Burkina Faso. She also carries out peace initiatives giving local conferences on peace in the family and empowering young girls to improve their self-esteem and realize their dreams. She is an environmental activist working with the national WFWP to create, implement and develop projects relative to environmental protection and climate change in our nation.

Mrs. Aber is also a Teacher Assistant at the International School of Ouagadougou and an EAL (English as Another Language) Teacher. She also worked in curriculum development and implementation as well as developing Adult Literacy Programs. She has been married for 27 years and has three lovely children. She is a lifelong learner who enjoys reading and being in nature.


Ryeojin Nomvula Kuse, Member of IAYSP in South Africa

Ms. Ryeojin Nomvula Kusa is an education student studying to become a teacher for the foundation phase at the University of South Africa. She has volunteered as a field worker, enabling her to interact with many people from different walks of life. She is a member of IAYSP South Africa which empowers youth and students to become global citizens through character education and peace projects supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals. She also has experience in outreach activities including the WFWP mobile library in South Africa that helps improve students' academic achievements.

Ms. Kusa is a hard-working being, an extrovert who is self-motivated. She is driven by passion, and her number one inspiration is “Change.”
