The New York office offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to develop their own research project, related to one of the areas of focus listed above. As part of this, the intern will receive a temporary UN grounds pass, which provides them with access to the UN HQ in NY, including meetings and key individuals, in order to form connections and collect information for their research. This internship is flexible in length.

Interested applicants should submit a resume, cover letter and research project proposal to unoffice@wfwp.org. The proposal should be no more than two pages and should include: the area of focus their topic will relate to; an overview of their research topic; guiding research questions and thesis statement; a research plan/methodology; a short preliminary list of UN offices, resolutions, or individuals they may contact or look into in conducting their research; and any cited sources consulted in making their proposal.

UN RELATIONS INTERNSHIP

UN RELATIONS INTERNSHIP.jpg

WFWPI’s UN Relations internship is an opportunity to discover the role that non-governmental organizations (NGOs) play at the UN. In this role, interns get the chance to represent WFWPI in one of the areas of focus listed above. Interns become members of committees (where applicable), attend meetings relevant to the area of focus, and get involved in developing WFWPI’s work in that area by cultivating relationships with UN representatives, missions and UN entities and working on projects related to that area of advocacy. Work at the UN begins in September with the annual UN General Assembly and goes on until around June. Therefore, UN Relations interns are required to begin in September and are strongly advised to commit to an entire UN year of work in order to get the most out of this experience.

Interested applicants should submit a resume and cover letter indicating their proposed internship length and weekly time commitment to unoffice@wfwp.org.

If you enjoy creative writing, journalism or developing a presence on social media, consider applying for WFWPI’s Communications internship. This internship is highly flexible to the interests of the individual. Working together with the Director of Communications and Publications, interns will get involved in areas such as writing and posting articles on the WFWPI website, developing and executing social media campaigns, and developing the weekly global e-newsletter. Applicants or interns are also welcome to propose new ideas they might like to work on.

Interested applicants should submit a resume and cover letter indicating their proposed internship length and weekly time commitment to unoffice@wfwp.org.

VOLUNTEER UN REPRESENTATIVE (LONG TERM)

VOLUNTEER UN REPRESENTATIVE (LONG TERM).jpg

The WFWPI office in New York provides a special opportunity to become more deeply involved in contributing to the development of the organization’s ongoing foundation in its areas of focus. The office aims to have one to two long term UN representatives dedicated to each area of focus. In this capacity, the representative will be expected to attend meetings relevant to their area, and will have the opportunity to establish long term trusted relationships and partnerships with members of other NGOs, UN entities, UN staff, missions and other key stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who wish to apply their creativity and time to create lasting inroads for WFWPI as well as themselves in UN work. Because of the in-depth nature of this work, time commitments and meeting times that vary based upon the area of focus, interested applicants should be ready to commit for at least two consecutive UN seasons (September-June).

Interested applicants should submit a resume and letter of interest indicating their desired area of focus to unoffice@wfwp.org.
