Young professionals around the world are playing an active role in creating and promoting peace by making their voices heard for positive change, coexistence, and harmony. Young people are the builders of the future of their countries and the world. In this webinar, WFWPI would like to focus on the role of youth in the family and society in enhancing and contributing to the culture of the community and society. Panelists will share best practice success stories and decision-making processes that have effectively tackled huge crises in various areas of life's responsibility.
Speakers
Ms. Sumima Lam is a registered nurse in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Hong Kong. Her research interests include lactation nursing, pediatric oncology, and health education for children. Her passion for nursing comes from her church community and family, where she has loved helping and serving people since she was a child. She has found that working as a nurse is the perfect way to connect with people. In working as a nurse, she loves the excitement and fulfillment she gets from her job and the need to find her calling to fit into society as a young person and a new generation. In particular, she feels the importance of educating and providing health care to the next generation of young people.
Ms. Mardilyn B. Garcia is a registered social worker in the Philippines. She has extensive experience representing and leading various youth forums and projects, including the 12th UNESCO Youth Forum and UNESCO Clubs Philippines. She is also an alumnus and awardee of the Ayala Young Leaders Congress in Cagayan. She is also an advocate of the Handog Pag-ibig Charity Project and a recipient of the Youth Heroes Award from the International Association of Youth and Students for Peace Philippines. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from St. Paul University in the Philippines.
Ms. Cintia Nabi Cabral was born in Lisbon, Portugal, and has been living in France since she was 12 years old. She is passionate about learning new languages and speaks Portuguese, French, English, and Spanish. She is the Secretary of IAYSP France (International Association of Youth & Students for Peace) since 2019. She recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Languages, Literature, and Foreign Civilization in English and Spanish. She is currently doing a master’s degree in Language, Literature, and Societies of the Anglophone World at the University of Sorbonne Nouvelle. For over 2 years, she has worked as a hostess in the Palace of Versailles. She has also been a Portuguese interpreter for UPF events online and in Korea and has worked with WFWP Portugal and WFWP France on several occasions.
Ms. Sharon Kabubi is the Co-Director of the WFWP Young Women's Speech Contest UK (YWSC-UK). She is an Associate Business Consultant by profession and a VC Fellow of Dream VC. She is also a school governor at a girls' secondary school in London, UK and host of the Bantu Collective podcast. She believes the future deserves young people emboldened enough to serve and lead society to new heights. She was also awarded the WFWP Ambassador for Peace in 2017.
Moderators
Ms. Kefilwe Lebepe is an active member of WFWP Germany, WFWPI Young Professionals team, and the WFWPI Global Committee for the Environment. Her current work is in environmental protection in South Africa, and she is currently promoting it in other countries such as Zambia, Eswatini, and Lesotho. She is passionate about helping to find solutions to problems affecting young people and the disadvantaged and is working to achieve UN SDG 2030 with the support of WFWP.
On the work front, Ms. Lebepe has over 10 years of experience in banking and foreign exchange. She has also worked with various youth organizations to support character-building education and the moral regeneration of young people.
Ms. Sunhwa Marchan
