[Announcement] 2021 GFGI Climate Action Project Grant Recipients
On July 16, the recipients of the 2021 Giving for Good International (GFGI) Climate Action Project Grant were announced. Giving for Good (GFG) is a new signature project of WFWPI that aims to conserve the Earth and all life through outreach, humanitarian aid and circular fashion. WFWP chapters throughout the world were encouraged to apply for the fund, which would support a project that is related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 12 or 13.
One of the many components of WFWPI’s mission is to strive towards the UN SDGs 2030. Environmental sustainability is a concern close to the heart of the co-founder of WFWPI, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon. To support this endeavor, Dr. Sun Jin Moon, Senior Vice President of WFWPI, launched the "Giving for Good" project in April 2020, encouraging people to resell their new and gently used clothing.
The "Giving for Good" Auction held in February of this year, auctioned off new or gently used clothing, shoes and accessories, from Dr. Moon and her family’s closet. The GFG auction surpassed its original goal of $50,000, and the total raised amounted to $60,000.
All proceeds from the fundraiser were donated to WFWPI, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, to specifically support UN SDG 13 on Climate Action, a select group of WFWPI humanitarian projects and the work related to the WFWPI UN Office.
The GFGI Climate Action Project Grant is entirely funded by the 2021 GFG Auction proceeds.

The final decisions were informed by the number of points each project received as well as a discussion among the Evaluation Committee.
WFWPI hopes that GFGI can establish a tradition of recognizing and supporting climate action projects that contribute to the healing of the planet. This is a wonderful way to further develop WFWPI and GFGI's foundation, expand WFWPI’s impact and influence in the world by working together to strengthen the global family.
