"Christmas together in the spirit of Synodality. Women peacemakers".
Written by: Elizabetta Nistri
Elisabetta Nistri, President of WFWP Italy, and Silvia Sticca, an attorney and Ambassador for Peace, were both invited to Donne in Vaticano’s association's general meeting. It was a treasured moment to meet women who were consecrated or actively involved in the Vatican as they worked toward earning the proper recognition for their hard work and dedication.
The Holy Father sought a Synodal church that was more inclusive to women and built on communion and participation, according to Sr. Nathalie Becquart, an undersecretary of the SYNOD's general secretariat. This was the first time that the availability of inclusivity and community was made known to other groups.
The participants were given the floor after a number of pre-planned interventions. WFWP Italy President, Elizabetta Nistri, interjected by outlining the WFWP's mission to encourage women to assert their rights and discover their inherent worth so they can make a fundamental contribution to building peace with a mother's heart. She went on to say that “In Genesis men and women were created in God's likeness and in His family, one represents God's male side and the other, as sons and daughters, the female aspect. The world today more than ever needs us to grasp and uncover our original nature, but it is up to us to do it.”
Mrs. Nistri continued by saying that she has encountered women of different faiths along the way and has discovered that women of other religions share the challenges faced by Catholic women. She also mentioned that she had had the chance to meet the Holy Father in the audience he had on November nine with the group Women of Faith in Dialogue - Religions for Peace, during which the Pope emphasized the significance of leaving the churches in order to address global issues and to go over our differences in religion and discover what unites us. Mrs. Nistri proposed WFWP's assistance, with a how-to. Following the numerous interventions, it was stated that the Women in Vatican association wished to establish a network of communication among all the organizations present, including through the Radio Vaticano channel, in order to make known and disseminate the actions of all the participants.
