On July 10, 2021, the Domestic Peace Education Program Orientation was conducted at the Caloocan City Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) center. This program was made possible through a partnership with the Sangguniang Kabataan of Tangnan. The purpose of the Domestic Peace Education program is to emphasize peaceful families, as the cornerstone for peace. This program hopes to do so, by improving the relationship between husband and wife. Then, that relationship will naturally be shown in the way parents nurture their children.
The module for this program was titled "Gabay kay Nanay,” which means “Guide for the Mother.” This program was prepared by the WFWP Philippines officers and staff. The module includes 12 subtopics, specifically focusing on how to improve the mother’s expression of love towards their partner. The participants are given guidance throughout the course, in which they also practice what they have learned through the 12-week implementation period. Participants graduate after completing the 12-week course.
One of the speakers was Gloria Arellano, Barangay Councilor, who congratulated and encouraged the participants to start anew in building good relationships with their husbands no matter the difficulties. Councilor Arellano shared her life experiences and testimonies about her own family. She emphasized the difference it made in raising children when she worked on having a good relationship with her husband. She credits her strong conjugal relationship, in helping her raise children who have a stable life and a good career.
The hope of this program is to improve the relationship between husbands and wives to bring about peace within the family. In doing so, WFWP Philippines hopes to contribute to the solution of rising domestic violence rates around the world. In addition, healthy bonds and communication within the family also encourage children to participate in youth programs.
This orientation also allows the participating mothers to learn about WFWP's worldwide activities and encourages them to be part of the growing WFWP family through this project.
