Laptop Presentation & Diwali Charity Giveaway

On October 22, 30 disadvantaged families in Selangor, Malaysia received food rations and an educational boost under the “Give Me A Chance” education empowerment initiative led by WFWP Malaysia. The event was supported by other associates of the Peacebuilders Network Malaysia, namely the Universal Peace Federation of Malaysia and Ajar-ajar Malaysia.
Six outstanding students from these families were given refurbished laptops to support their tertiary education, and one student received cash support. The families also heard a career talk by a motivational lecturer, Mr. A. Arulnathan, and later received grocery packs at the event held in Teluk Panglima Garang Tamil Primary School, Selangor.
The guest of honor, Hon. Papparaidu Veraman, Selangor State Executive Council (exco) member for Human Resources and Poverty Eradication, commended the organizers for empowering the students through this project.
The President of Women's Federation for World Peace (WFWP) Malaysia, Madam Lina Cheng, explained that the laptop presentation initiative started in 2020 with the Covid-19 pandemic and has thus far benefitted 200 needy students with refurbished laptops and assistance funds.
Dr. Udesh Chaskar, UPF Youth Ambassador for Peace, said: “I hope the recipients will be successful in their studies as well as give back to society through community service and social work.”
The event saw past recipients of the education assistance program, Ms. S. Loganapriya and Ms. S. Janani, contributing by playing the role of emcee and experience-sharing, respectively.
Also present at the event was Mr. K. Rajaseran, Principal of Teluk Panglima Garang Tamil Primary School, Selangor; Mr. Anpalagan, Ketua Komuniti India; Mr. Joachim Ng, Vice President of UPF Malaysia and Prof. Dr. Umah Rani Kuppusamy, Vice President of WFWP Malaysia.
