In March 2023, the library completion ceremony took place in Kou Loab, Kratie, Cambodia. Although it had been delayed due to the circumstances of the people involved, it was successfully accomplished.
Last year, in 2022, the Women’s Federation for World Peace Korea donated two libraries to Kratie, Cambodia, for “The 1% Love Share Project.” Each library was constructed in Da commune and Kou Loab commune in Kratie. In Da commune, the library completion ceremony was held in December 2022, with the presence of Dr. Julia H. Moon, who was the International President of WFWPI at that time, as well as Mrs. Young Sun Choi, the President of WFWP Korea. Whereas for the other opening ceremony in Kou Loab this month, WFWP Cambodia fulfilled the duties on behalf of WFWP Korea, with the cooperation of the Royal School of Administration.
The provincial department of administration was in charge of organizing and carrying out the event. Guests included H.E. Bunna Youk, Permanent Secretary of State of the Ministry of Civil Service and other excellencies from the ministry, Kratie Provincial government, Chetr Borey District government, Kou Loab commune chief and council and provincial department of education. Together with Kou Loab primary school and secondary school students and local people, more than 800 people participated.
H.E. Youk talked to the people about how Cambodia had once lost its peace due to the civil war. But now that Cambodia has regained peace, this is an opportunity for education to be made available for all, from children to adults. With appropriate education, H.E. Youk declared that Cambodia can expand its capabilities and create a good life, which leads the society and the nation to develop further. Making good use of the library in that way should be the best return to the donor, he said.
Certainly, WFWP Cambodia will be grateful if the library can be the source for all children to gain useful and rightful knowledge and if it can be of help for the continuous good development of the nation. WFWP Cambodia received a certificate of appreciation on behalf of WFWP Korea, from the commune. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and photos with all participating students in front of the library concluded the event.
