Mother of Peace: Discover the Woman Behind the Mission
Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon is the Co-Founder along with her late husband, Rev. Sun Myung Moon, of Women’s Federation for World Peace, International and was born on February 10, 1943 in Anju, South Pyeongan Province, in what is now North Korea. At the age of six, she fled to South Korea with her mother and grandmother, risking their lives to cross the border in the dead of night.
From a very young age, she developed a deep relationship with God in a close father-daughter bond. When she married the late Rev. Sun Myung Moon in 1960, their mutual desire to see a true world of peace led her to join him on a pioneering course as the “Mother of Peace.”
Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon and her husband Rev. Sun Myung Moon developed and promoted successful models for bridging conflict, division, and resentment in the fields of education, politics, arts, sciences, media and human rights, all united under the umbrella of the Unification movement.
Over her 50 years of public ministry, Dr. Moon, affectionately known as Mother Moon, has dedicated her life to the realization of peace and of one global family. Embracing a mindset as humanity’s parents, she and her husband created non-profit organizations, businesses, conferences and awards spanning every facet of society and culture to support resolving historical wounds and finding solutions to the world’s many problems.
Since her husband’s passing in 2012, Dr. Moon has been leading the worldwide movement. She is prioritizing the education of young people, challenges facing the environment, and human disasters, such as the growing refugee crisis.
Dr. Moon’s most recent humanitarian efforts include the founding of the prestigious Sun Hak Peace Prize, which honors exceptional men and women who are working to solve global issues. There was also the Peace Starts With Me world tour of rallies which have brought thousands of people together, challenging them to become peacemakers, starting with themselves.
At the root of all their initiatives is the intention to create a global network of families and prevent the breakdown of society through the Marriage Blessing movement. As the only female religious leader operating on such a global level, her powerful message has inspired millions to transcend national, racial and ideological boundaries.
Now for the first time, you can discover her deeply moving personal story through her recently released autobiography, “Mother of Peace: And God Shall Wipe Away All Tears from Their Eyes.” The first print of the English version sold out within two weeks of its release and is now available on Amazon.
