On September 21, the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) Paraguayan chapter celebrated the International Day of Peace.
Established in 1982 by a unanimous United Nations resolution, this celebration is observed annually all over the world in an effort to bring awareness and commitment by all of humanity in constructing a culture of peace around the globe.
WFWP Paraguay commemorated this occurrence with a discussion on family as the cornerstone of peace in the Santa Marian home of Peace Ambassador Eva Arzamendia. Ambassador Arzamendia and Professor Gustavo Giuliano facilitated the critical conversation that was followed with a sisterhood ceremony.
Twelve women from both WFWP and the Santa Maria community, where WFWP is participating in volunteer efforts, partook in this ceremony. To conclude the event, Peace Ambassador Lidia Gimenez led a dance group in a performance. The participants in this honoring of the International Day of Peace were deeply moved and inspired to truly work to make a tangible difference in the world through their lives.
