Plant mangrove forests, create volunteer leaders
On August 13, 2022, WFWP Thailand organized an activity under the Youth Leadership Spirits In Youth Project initiative entitled “Plant mangrove forests, create volunteer leaders.”
Through this initiative, WFWP Thailand aimed to instill in the 110 students that attended the spirit of volunteerism as well as skills to prepare them to become leaders through adding value to their communities. In addition, through the project WFWP Thailand created a culture through which the youth could learn, experience and put into practice the values of pure love and volunteerism. Through this experience, students were encouraged to become role models in their society and nation and were empowered to restore the ecosystem through the development of a mangrove forest.
The day included a lecture on the development and conservation of ecosystems by Mr. Plaiwan Dechpetch and Mr. Man Chuwongnakraksa, lecturer at the Resource Development Station 6.
Mrs. Sasitchanya Asawaratnaksikorn, Secretary of WFWP Thailand, donated 300 USD, partially given to Resource Development Station 6, to fund further development of natural resources and awarded certificates to youth representatives.
In the project, participants learned the importance of the following:
1. The conservation of aquatic species and increasing the area of mangrove forest prevents soil erosion,
2. The values of unity, volunteerism and shared ownership,
3. The need for people to conserve the environment and nature in order to restore a sustainable ecological balance in the long term,
4. The need for youth volunteer leaders to drive and promote volunteer activities for society.
