Valentine’s Day Blood Donation Drive (WFWP Kenya)

February 14, 2021, marks Valentine’s Day, and on this special day, Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) Kenya participated in a blood donation drive organized by the Ministry of Health in partnership with Ambassador Aisha Dafalla, who is an Ambassador for Peace and a Partner of WFWP Kenya.
Amb. Dafalla is a passionate woman leader from Kenya with a mission to save lives by donating blood. She has donated blood over 67 times, saving many lives and has been recognized as the highest female blood donor.
Aisha’s selfless act of bravery has not gone unnoticed. In 2016 she was recognized as the top female donor in Kenya by the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health in improving access to safe blood and blood products. She was awarded a certificate of recognition by the Kenya Health Cabinet Secretary (Minister of Health) Senator Mutahi Kagwe during his tour at the National Blood Transfusion Centre in Nairobi. On the same occasion, the Cabinet Health Secretary also appointed Amb. Dafalla as a Kenyan Ambassador for blood donation. In June 2019, Amb. Dafalla participate in World Donor Day and met the world’s Number one blood donor Mr. Arjun Mainnali.
During this year’s Valentine's Day program, WFWP Kenya, led by Chairperson, Dr. Susan Kone and senior advisor, Mrs Albina Tanui along with other women leaders, presented Amb. Dafalla with a bouquet of flowers and the WFWPI co-founder’s memoirs as a sign of love and appreciation for her service to humanity. The representative from the Health Minister also received a bouquet of flowers as a sign of appreciation for initiating and organizing the blood donation drive. The program was also attended by additional leaders such as the Women Representative in Parliament of Nairobi County and other dignitaries.
The blood drive was held from February 14-19, 2022. WFWP also created awareness with its membership on the importance of donating blood in an effort to save lives and encouraged all the partners to participate in the drive.
