Women leaders from ten different countries - Afghanistan, Brazil, Hong Kong, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Nepal, Slovakia, the United Kingdom and the United States, gathered in Korea for the first time in two and a half years since the COVID-19 pandemic. The 14 women leaders greeted each other with excitement and energy as if the bond and love between them had deepened because of their separation. They decided to interact over a light meal in the cozy open space at the Seoul Jamsil Lotte Hotel Lounge & Brasserie Restaurant.
Dr. Julia H. Moon, WFWP International President, warmly welcomed everyone and thanked all the women leaders who are working hard in their countries despite the difficulties in the field caused by the pandemic. She then wished everyone a pleasant and peaceful stay in Korea.
Dr. Paris Moon, WFWP International Secretary General, explained the purpose of the meeting, saying that it was like “a heart’s call” to bring all leaders together. She also expressed her regret that not all of the leaders were able to come this time but hoped that in the near future, WFWP would be able to conduct an in-person event to meet again.
Afterward, leaders from each country introduced themselves and shared their works and projects. Mrs. Mitty Tohma from the United Kingdom said, “We had the privilege of being together with our international president Dr. Julia Moon and the head of UPF Korea Prof. Yeon Ah Nim. Those of us who could come to Korea after almost two and a half years’ absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis was very excited and very much looking forward to being together again in person! We were able to share a wonderful lunch whilst introducing and sharing something about ourselves and our work with WFWP. It was incredible, and many unforgettable moments were shared. For many of us, it was like a dream come true to be reunited. We felt so much love and encouragement from our International President and Prof. Yeon Ah Moon. They both conveyed the WFWPI Co-founder’s heart and love through their words. Thank you very much, everyone, for sharing such precious time, we received so much attention and care from being together. The atmosphere was generous, comfortable, and positive.”
President of WFWP Japan, Mrs. Moriko Hori, then gave an overview of the current situation in Japan. Dr. Moon encouraged each leader to consider the WFWP Japanese members facing incredible challenges. She suggested that before each meal, a short prayer be offered for them to send them support and the strength of co-founders during this very difficult time.
Two hours flew by with powerful discussions and heartfelt talks. It was a short but unforgettable stay in Korea, and all of the international leaders left feeling empowered and grateful. Mrs. Lubica Magnusson, the National President of WFWP Slovakia, said, “Thank you for organizing such a wonderful and heartistic event. I was thrilled to meet our International President and other women colleagues. I could personally share some words and thoughts with Prof. Yeon Ah Moon, which I consider a very precious moment, and I was impressed by her humble attitude and beautiful heart. I want to bring all love received today with me to share with the members of my nation.”
