The Human Right to a Clean, Healthy and Sustainable Environment:
Building Global Solidarity and Partnership
The NGO CSW Geneva and NGO CSW Vienna CSW66 Consultation Day will be an interactive multimedia event, with representatives from Geneva and Vienna–based United Nations agencies, youth
activists, rural women and NGO experts.
High level speakers from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) will introduce the issue. Panelists representing rural women and youth will discuss their perspectives and priorities. A Civil Society Declaration will be adopted, and an Advocacy Toolkit on Climate
Justice for Women and Girls will be launched.
The event’s goal is to provide civil society actors from the UNECE region and globally with tools, resources, recommendations, models, and confidence to engage locally and in partnerships with each other, their governments, and the United Nations for the right to live in and contribute to a healthy, safe and sustainable
environment.
The event will promote civil society mobilization in support of UN Human Rights Council Resolution 48/13 recognizing the human right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment, and the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime Resolution 10/6 on Preventing and Combating Crimes that affect the Environment.
