On December 10 and 11, 2022, the Women’s Federation for World Peace Spain (WFWP Spain) held a charity concert and a bazaar of food and clothes in Madrid, Spain in order to raise funds for a humanitarian project being developed by WFWP Ukraine. This project was launched online on the occasion of the WFWP Europe and International Association of First Ladies for Peace (IAFLP) event entitled “No Peace without Women,” held in September of 2022.
The funds raised will go to the families who are victims of the war, which is currently making life devastating in Ukraine. It aims at offering medical, psychological and humanitarian aid and support to those families residing in the region of Kiev who have suffered any type of aggression during the current war.
Many visitors attended both events and contributed in one way or another to support this relief project already initiated in Ukraine.
“A Concert of Light” was the title given by Ana Martínez, a soprano, and Manuel Valencia, a piano concertist. Indeed, their passion and professionalism when interpreting the English and Spanish carols and popular Spanish songs excited and vibrantly engaged everyone in the audience, who consisted of both English and Spanish speaking participants.
The bazaar was held over the course of two days and was taken care of by the Spanish and Latin American volunteers of WFWP, whose involvement was remarkable.
A total of 3,150 euros was raised for this purpose. The Japanese organization called Jeong Seong Hwe in Spain donated 500 euros to the cause, Tongil Spain donated 600 euros and the rest was raised both in the bazaar and in the concert along with donations.
This event was just the first in a series of many still to come in 2023 all over Europe. It will continue as long as the needs are there. A big thank you goes to all our sponsors, among which was the Universal Peace Federation and volunteers, who invested in different ways to make this event and its result possible!
