Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) Burkina Faso carried out their second tree planting initiative in collaboration with the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) on September 21, 2021. This event was held in commemoration of the International Day of Peace in the village of Béguédo. This initiative is part of WFWP Burkina Faso’s climate action project named "Environmental Awareness and Call to Action," which is sponsored by Giving For Good International (GFGI).
A delegation of five volunteers from the WFWP, four volunteers from the UPF and one youth from the International Association of Youth and Students for Peace (IAYSP), traveled from Ouagadougou to Béguédo, which is nearly 160 km (100 miles) apart. This planting project took place on the land of one of WFWP’s Ambassadors for Peace, His Excellency Dabre Amado.
It is with the great hope that these fruit trees can serve other families in this village and encourage His Excellency to get more involved in the activities contributing to peace. This planting activity was also carried out in order to contribute to the fight the drought season as well as climate change.
Ambassador Dabre’s mother, along with mothers, children and young people from the village as well as our team, all contributed to the planting. A total of 87 fruit trees including mango trees, banana trees, lemon trees and guava trees have been planted.
Mrs. Lamoussa Yora, the mother of Ambassador Dabre Amado, expressed her deep gratitude to the entire delegation that traveled from Ouagadougou to Béguédo for this planting activity. She was very touched by the consideration given to her son and their village for this humanitarian work.
