An exciting Friendship and Cultural Exchange Program was held to welcome 10 WFWP Korea Incheon Chapter members on their visit to Malaysia. The 1-day event, co-hosted by the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) Malaysia and Women’s Holistic Leadership (WHOLE) Malaysia and Grooville Group, was held in Kuala Lumpur on January 12, 2024.
President of WFWP Malaysia, Mrs. Lina Cheng, welcomed the guests warmly and expressed her hopes to foster unity and friendship between people transcending borders through cultural exchange programs.
The first part of the program was a food and culinary experience session held at Groovitiam Cafe. Thirty participants consisting of members of WFWP Malaysia and our guests from Korea were treated to a fun hands-on experience in brewing Teh Tarik (Hand-pulled Milk Tea), decorating curry puffs with spiral edges and wrapping nasi lemak (creamy coconut rice).
Ms Khadijatul Azada, President of WHOLE Malaysia, gave a brief introduction to the famous Malaysian foods and drinks that the participants would be making during the session. The participants were later divided into smaller groups and had a good time interacting with one another while being guided by experienced instructors from Groovitiam in the hands-on session.
Before adjourning for lunch, the participants took turns presenting wonderful cultural performances, such as Malaysian folk songs, K-pop dance and Korean songs. There was also a gift exchange session between the local and international participants.
In the second part of the program, the group visited the Jadi Batek factory for a traditional batik coloring class. Participants were fascinated to learn about the history and process of making batik, a method of decorating fabric by applying hot wax and dye. Each participant was then allowed to unleash their creativity by filling the flower motives of the batik fabric with vibrant colors.
