WFWP Mali celebrated International Literacy Day on September 8, 2021, in the village of Sonougouba. We presented the purpose and objectives of WFWP and Mother's Heart Peace Network. Next, our team introduced the Giving For Good International (GFGI) climate action project which is what brought us to this village. This grant was given by GFGI and it funds projects that offer solar lights to families who have no light. Through this project, donors wanted to express their hearts of love to families who are in need of light.
A list of ten women was recommended by the President to whom we gave the solar lamps. The beneficiaries were very happy and expressed their gratitude to the donors. It was a joy and the President even assured us that these beneficiaries will be ready to welcome us whenever we need them.
Then, on September 21, 2021, we celebrated the International Day of Peace in two villages, Kokoum and Massakoni. Here, we once again explained the purpose and objectives of WFWP, Mother's Heart Peace Network and the GFGI project. Our team encouraged the people in the villages to promote a culture of peace in their families, with their neighbors and in their community. We spoke on the importance of accepting others with their differences, knowing forgiveness in the case of a problem, knowing how to listen to others and having empathy for people.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the donors and offered many blessings. They sang and we all danced together.
Lastly, on September 25, 2021, we visited the village of Mounzou and also received a warm welcome. We were able to donate solar lamps to this village as well. The beneficiaries were very overjoyed now that children can study after the sun sets.
WFWP Mali visited four villages in September, with a total of 774 participants. So far, 60 solar lamps have been installed, and we hope to be able to continue giving light to those in need.
