Ivory Coast: Launch of African Women's Network

WFWP Connects Women Leaders of Africa

The WFWP Ivory Coast launched the regional WFWP Africa project "Network of Maternal Hearts for Peace" on September 27, 2018 in Abidjan. At the same time, the 26th anniversary of WFWP was celebrated, along with the UN International Day of Peace.

The event opened with the national anthem, followed by the opening prayer offered by Pastor Kouidaio, Parfait of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) Abidjan. The president of the organizing committee, Ms. Enan Marie-Thérèse, welcomed the assembly. Rev. Richard Beugre, President of the FFWPU Ivory Coast, then spoke, reminding the participants of the value of peace.

A video on the activities of WFWP International worldwide was shown and allowed the Mrs. Hélène Yessoh, President of WFWP Ivory Coast, to invite the participants to join the network. It is an initiative that aims to bring  women together to break down the barriers that separate them, build up their capacities and create a strong pillar of the culture of heart. The broader goals are to support a culture of peace and reconciliation in every nation focused on feminine leadership and greater participation of women in all levels of society.

To mark the beginning of this network, school kits were given to top students and presented to the leaders of several associations and NGOs.

Rev.  Eugene Ahondjo, Regional President of FFWPU, introduced the five principles of peace appointed five new Ambassadors for Peace. The President of the Universal Peace Federation, Mr. Sayé Lazare Aka, congratulated the new ambassadors, emphasizing that they are on a mission.

To close the ceremony, a message of encouragement was given on the preservation of peace.
