National Family Day

WFWP Philippines celebrated National Family Day on September 25, 2023 at Manticao, Misamis Oriental, Philippines with great enthusiasm and participation from the community. The event aimed to emphasize the importance of family bonds and provide a platform for children to express their thoughts and hopes for their families.
Family is the cornerstone of society, a fundamental institution that shapes our lives and communities. It provides a haven of love, support and connection in a fast-paced and ever-changing world. Recognizing the significance of family, National Family Day serves as an annual reminder of the essential role that families play in our lives.
First and foremost, National Family Day serves to nurture and cherish our family relationships. In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it's easy to take our loved ones for granted. This annual event encourages families to come together, spend quality time with one another and engage in activities that promote understanding and unity. Whether through shared meals, games, or heartfelt conversations, National Family Day reinforces the idea that strong families are the bedrock of a thriving society.
A remarkable number of children attended the celebration, showcasing the strong community support for the event. There were 25 children in attendance, reflecting the eagerness to participate in activities promoting family unity. To kick off the celebration, the children were engaged in a creative poster-making activity. They were encouraged to depict their understanding of family values, love and unity through their artwork. This activity allowed them to express their thoughts visually, fostering creativity and self-expression.
The event also featured a lively song and dance competition where children showcased their talents and enthusiasm. The competition not only added an element of fun but also encouraged teamwork and camaraderie among the participants. As part of the program, children were given the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings about their families. Many of them expressed their desire for a complete and harmonious family, especially considering that most of them came from broken families. These sessions served as a platform for emotional release and support.
After the program, the children were pleasantly surprised as they received thoughtful gifts to take home. Each child received a package that included T-shirts, slippers, towels and a dental kit. These gifts not only provided them with essential items but also served as tokens of the event, reminding them of the importance of family unity and the support of their community.
The National Family Day celebration organized by WFWP Philippines was a resounding success. It brought together children from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the significance of family bonds. Through creative activities, sharing sessions and gift-giving, the event fostered a sense of unity and belonging among the children, inspiring hope for brighter family futures. This celebration not only emphasized the importance of strong family foundations but also provided a safe and nurturing environment for children to express their aspirations and dreams for their families. It showcased the power of community support in nurturing the next generation and promoting family values.
