On April 9, 2024, the Women’s Federation for World Peace - NCR Chapter Officers organized a heartfelt gift-giving activity at Barangay Villa Cerveza, Victoria, Oriental Mindoro. This carefully planned event aimed to support the Tadyawan Mangyan community, a minority group in the area. Attended by 30 participants, the event was graced by the presence of Barangay Chairman, Hon. Aaron L. Villareal, and his wife, who warmly welcomed the WFWP NCR Chapter Officers.
This project was specifically tailored to address the challenges faced by the Tadyawan Mangyan community by providing essential household supplies such as pails, basins, dippers, hangers, and rubber boots. The gesture underscored the community's appreciation and highlighted the immediate impact of the aid provided. While the gift items were not extravagant, they were carefully chosen to help alleviate the daily hardships experienced by these mothers, particularly in enhancing their home management capabilities and supporting their livelihoods in mountainous and farmland areas. Additionally, candy bags for children and snacks for all attendees were distributed to foster joy and a sense of community togetherness.
Hon. Allan L. Villareal spoke on the importance of community support and collaboration for sustainable development. His brief talk highlighted how localized efforts like these play a critical role in uplifting vulnerable communities, aligning with the broader goals of national welfare. Hon. Villareal also thanked the WFWP-NCR Chapter Officer for the initiative to help the minority community in their area.
Participants expressed heartfelt gratitude for the gifts, particularly highlighting the importance of receiving rubber boots, essential for their work in the mountains or farmlands. Their appreciation emanated from their desire to support their husbands and children in every possible way.
Furthermore, the officers of the WFWP-NCR Chapter collectively financed the household supplies themselves, exemplifying a selfless act that embodies WFWPI’s advocacy. They hope that through this initiative, women helping women can pave the way towards a more inclusive and supportive community.
The event was not only successful in terms of turnout but also in achieving its goal of directly benefiting a community in need. The gift-giving activity directly supports WFWPI’s vision of empowering women and promoting peace by addressing the immediate needs of women in minority communities. This project not only provided practical assistance but also conveyed a message of hope and community strength, essential elements in building a peaceful society.
