The 14th Annual Academy, a project of WFWP’s Global Women’s Peace Network (GWPN), was held on July 3rd at 2 p.m. with WFWP Korea President, Mrs. Su Youn Kim; WFWP Korea Vice-President, Mrs. Sung Soon Hong; WFWP Korea Central Committee President, Mrs. Mi Ok Kim; WFWP Korea Secretary General, Jung Hwa Yoo; and 35 WFWP members from Japan, Thailand, Mongolia, and the Philippines.
The GWPN Academy is a motivational education and training course for multicultural members to foster leaders in the field. The academy consists of various education courses for a total of six weeks. Topics included the reunification principles of the Korean peninsula, vision and motivation courses, family counseling, and women’s empowerment.
The MC, Mrs. Jung Hwa Yoo, invited Mrs. Su Youn Kim to give a welcoming speech. Mrs. Sung Soon Hong gave words of encouragement, and Mrs. Mi Ok Kim gave congratulatory remarks. After watching an introduction video, Mr. Do Seon Park gave a special lecture on the principles of life.
In her welcoming remarks, Mrs. Su Youn Kim called all women participants from multicultural families, who are the citizens of Korean society, to move forward to increase their self-esteem and become women leaders of local activities.
Mrs. Mi Ok Kim encouraged all participants "to become women leaders who can create harmonious [and] cooperative relationships with local organizations in the field” and emphasized her passion for others to be a part of the GWPN Academy.
During a lecture on the principles of life, Mr. Do Seon Park said, "during the COVID-19 pandemic it is the right time for Korea to create the era that the Founder desires. The Black Death that occurred in the Middle Ages, was a turning point to later lead to the Modern Ages. The Spanish flu during the early 20th century is what then caused the change to the modern era. Therefore, COVID-19 in the present era will be converted to a new era in the world.”
The 14th GWPN Academy is scheduled for a total of 6 weeks with a different topic each week, and those who complete the entire course will be given the status to become the member of the WFWP Central Committee. Due to COVID-19, most of the program will be conducted online as a webinar.
