On Tuesday, September 6, the Women’s Federation of World Peace in Thailand was honored to receive a government award acknowledging their contribution to women empowerment. Under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, an event was organized at the Parliament in Bangkok, entitled, “Women's Power to Build Virtue.”
The Morality and Ethics subcommittee in the Committee on Religion, Morality and Ethics, Arts and Culture in the Senate has recognized and given importance to the national strategy for human resource development and capacity building. Their main goal is to encourage Thai people of all ages to live by the five virtues of gratitude, discipline, honesty, sufficiency and volunteerism and to instill in the consciousness of Thai people to create love and have pride in being Thai. The event, “Women's Power to Build Virtue,” therefore gathered women's foundations and organizations in Thailand to promote these five moral principles among Thai women so that they may develop their potential and to honor the role Thai women play in cultivating such morals in Thai society.
Mrs. Kamoltip Phayakvichien, President of WFWP Thailand, attended the meeting to represent the Good Shepherd Foundation's contribution and to receive the diploma "Power of Women Strengthening Morality." It was a great honor to receive the certificate and become a part of this network of women’s organizations. WFWP Thailand is one of 91 organizations that have received such honors.
