WFWPI Virtual Café: Peace Golden Bell

WFWPI hosted its fourth Virtual Café titled "Peace Golden Bell," in commemoration of the 71st anniversary of the Korean War. The event took place on June 18 at 8 p.m KST, using a participatory online quiz contest (Kahoot!) in order to create a fun, educational platform to learn about Korean history and culture.

Golden Bell is a popular elimination-style quiz game in South Korea, where students answer the quiz questions by writing the answer on their whiteboards. 120 participants of the 241 registered participants, both from the younger and elder generations from all over the world, gathered for the event, which created an intergenerational and competitive networking space.

The event started with a Welcoming Remark from Mrs. Julia H. Moon, WFWPI President, saying “WFWPI recognizes that the peaceful reunification of the Korean peninsula is an essential step to achieving world peace. We have prepared this competition with the hope that more global citizens can become aware of the current situation and challenges of the Korean peninsula. I also would like to encourage you to learn more about the life and work of Father and Mother Moon and their vision of creating One Family Under God.”

Congratulatory Remarks were given by the Special guest, Mr. Koji Matsuda, International President of IAYSP, saying “Dr. Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, the Co-Founders of WFWP and YSP, have been promoting a lifelong peace unification movement with a strong desire to realize the reunification of the two Koreas as soon as possible. I think this program will become a good start that women and youth study and work together for the same ideal of reunifying the Korean Peninsula.”

After the powerful entertainment from Mr. Thomas Dantas and Mr. Emiliano Corales, young professionals from Argentina, who performed the cover song “Can you feel the love tonight,” the program continued with two more rounds of quiz games with various questions on the Korean war, modern history and K-pop.

Participants were excited to click the correct answers on the devices as fast as possible to show their knowledge learned from the study book that was previously shared with registered participants prior to the event. Each game was moderated by the young professionals from the WFWPI Global Committee from Russia, Japan and Africa.

The climax of the event was the announcement of the Winners and Award ceremony led by Dr. Paris Moon, WFWPI Secretary General. The prizes awarded were: Bronze with Kindle paperwhite to Ms. Charmyne Mayo from the Philippines, Silver with iPad Mini 64 GB to Mr. Leon Burfield from Australia, and Gold with iPad Mini 256 GB to Ms. Christine Rose Bulayo from Bohol Island.
The event successfully finished with reflections from winners and a congratulatory song from Ms. Florencia Dantas, Mr. Thomas Dantas and young professionals from Argentina who sang “My heart will go on.”
