Donation of Generators to Victims of Typhoon Odette (WFWP Philippines)
Typhoon Odette which hit the Philippines in December 2021, caused a total blackout in certain areas, specifically in the province of Bohol. Electric posts had fallen down due to the typhoon which caused chaos to those who could not reach their families. In an effort to help, the Women's Federation for World Peace International, UN Office in New York donated six generator sets to the following beneficiaries: (1) Hinlayagan National High School, Hinlayagan, Trinidad, Bohol, (2) Center for Wisdom And Character Education (CWACE), Montesunting, Carmen, Bohol, (3) LGU Carmen, Bohol, (4) Biking Technical Vocational High School, Biking, Dauis, Bohol, (5) Jandig Elementary School, Jandig, Maribojoc, Bohol and (6) Volunteer group headed by Ms. Dalareich Polot.
These generator sets were directly donated to the beneficiaries through the active officers and youth volunteers of WFWP Bohol from January 5-6, 2022. These generator sets were indispensable to the livelihoods of these families since the electricity in the province was expected to be delayed until much later.
In addition, the funds from WFWPI UN Office in NY also aided in donating food packs to the following areas in Bohol, Philippines:
(1) Barangay Bilang-bilangan Diot, Bien Unido, Bohol which received 200 food packs
(2) LGU Clarin, Bohol which received 126 food packs through the office of Vice-Mayor Allen Ray Piezas. Received by the Vice-Mayor, himself.
(3) Buenavista Community College, Buenavista, Bohol- 100 food packs were handed out and received by the faculty and staff of the school
(4) Cansibao, Valencia, Bohol- 124 food packs distributed to the families
These relief operations were supported by friends in the 47 Infantry Battalion Troops and youth volunteers who assisted in the distribution of the food packs.
The beneficiaries expressed their sincere gratitude for the support that the WFWPI UN Office NY, for having extended their hand, in times of great difficulty.
