Providing Opportunities for the Youth (WFWP Jordan)

WFWP Jordan is so grateful for the heartfelt support they have received throughout the years for Jordan’s needy families and children. The focus of WFWP Jordan’s work has been trying to help children build memorable foundations for their life. Due to the difficult situation that Jordan currently faces, it becomes inevitable that these children’s futures are not as forward-looking and hopeful.

Our hope is to convey the importance of education, not just academically, but in experiencing sports, arts and theater, which help with character education. Incorporating these experiences will make a holistic education that will be rich to these children’s lives. As children, they should be able to have many good experiences.

Unfortunately, the number of criminal activity in the youth has increased, including an increase in violence, using weapons. In addition, tragic cases of murder frequently happen among families as well. This poses the question, why is there an increase in such brutal crimes?

We can only conclude that it is because people are unhappy and have never really had the opportunity to feel heard and loved. The nature of the country truly does not provide a hopeful future for its people and many people act out of desperation for survival.

In living in Jordan for the past couple of decades, I have been seeing first-hand, the reasons in which children, especially from poor families, do not have opportunities to create meaningful experiences with others.

We believe if children can experience more cultural activities with other children, they would have more excitement in their lives. These children would have something to look forward to every day. If they have a healthy outlet to release their energy, they could be even more focused in school.

This year in 2022, WFWP Jordan hopes to continue making efforts to provide students with as many good opportunities as possible. Although their lives are difficult, if we can provide strong character education, it can serve as a stepping stone to conquer challenges with a positive and hopeful attitude.

One of the ways in which we do this is through our Amman Wadiseer WFWP center. This center is managed by a handful of excellent women who have been serving families and women in Jordan for more than 20 years, through WFWP. Although the center is lacking funds, the women are united in heart and always helping others with their unchanging, sincere hearts.
